Breakouts happen. Sometimes one zit can last longer than a week, and other times it comes out of nowhere before an important event or milestone moment like a date or a wedding. If acne has been a significant part of your life, you have probably tried many remedies, because there are many recommended treatments.

Here's a unique product from Hannah Grace that you don’t want to miss: silk pillowcases!

Is Silk better than a Satin & Cotton?

For the longest time, synthetic fabrics and cotton have been a huge players in the textile industry. Nearly every household has cotton and polyester throughout the house, clothes. towels, and bedding. It’s also affordable – what can go wrong, right?

Well, that’s exactly where you DO go wrong. When your skin  is acne-prone, there are many factors that can trigger a breakout – sometimes even things we would never consider.

Acne triggers fall into 4 categories, stress, diet, hormones and medication, and environment.

BREAKOUT-PRONE SKIN + ENVIRONMENT TRIGGER = POTENTIAL BREAKOUT

For the purpose of this article, we will focus on environment. Because the fabric you sleep on can have a significant difference.

Your pillowcase will absorb and store anything that is on your face and hair. Cotton & Synthetic fabric pillowcases tend to absorb makeup residue, oils, skin secretions, and sweat. If you are a stomach or side sleeper, your pillowcase harbors a ton of bacteria which can end up clogging your pores. This results in the much-dreaded acne or even wrinkles from sleep creases!

How is Hannah Grace Silk Pillowcase good for acne?

This silk is a 6A grade 100% natural fiber that does not clog pores – making it the optimum fabric for your skin in general. It’s not meant to be the only solution, but over time, our silk pillowcase helps regulate your skin's natural moisture balance, making it the perfect addition to your acne fighting routine.

From our 14 years in the textile industry, we know that our silk is hypoallergenic, heals razor burnprevents hair breakage and split ends, and works wonders for preventing sleep lines and wrinkles.  In fact, there have been studies that silk textiles have positive results on back acne after wearing a silk shirts for weeks. Although the silk fabric used for pillowcases is not exactly the same, we can infer from the studies that silk is a better fabric than cotton or polyester when it comes to sensitive and acne-prone skin.

In addition, our silk’s unique texture and properties reduce friction between the face and pillowcase, lowering the chances of infection and skin irritation.

Is a pillowcase worth the investment?

There are over a million silk pillowcases sold each year and I'd estimate that about 1 percent are sleeping on the real thing. How do you tell? You won't be able to because it's extremely difficult even for experts, but your skin and hair won't be getting the benefits and many people are putting themselves at risk for skin infections by randomly choosing a silk online. It's very important to find a company that truly cares, and that's us!! We put our heart and soul into our products, and the weave of our silk pillowcase for natural hair is the most gentle fabric in the world. It has healing properties that can give your skin a beautiful glow, prevent wrinkles and crow's feet, and reverse damage done by the sun. The silk we get is scarce and takes approximately 4 months for each small batch as opposed to machine made scrap that can take a day.

We hope you get to try it and reach out to us with any questions, we are always here.
